Unlicensed Teen Causes Crash Near Central, One Hospitalized

A teenager behind the wheel of a 2010 red Camaro SS received two citations this afternoon after causing a crash in which one man was sent to the hospital.

The crash, which involved the Camaro and a grey Ford Ranger, blocked the entire intersection of Jefferson and Guadalupe for the better part of an hour as emergency personnel worked the scene and loaded the driver of the Ranger into an ambulance.

According to Traffic Investigator Mike Gesch, the Camaro was westbound on Guadalupe attempting to turn left and didn't see the grey Ranger, which was southbound on Jefferson, and pulled out in front of it, causing the collision.

The driver of the Camaro was cited for violation of a stop sign and violation of a restriction requiring that a licensed driver 21 or over be in the passenger seat while the teen is behind the wheel.

Southbound traffic on Jefferson was closed to through traffic, while Guadalupe remained open.

The extent of the injuries sustained in the crash is unknown.
