Rollover Crash on Johnson Almost Brings Down Power Lines

A rollover crash on S. Johnson Street almost brought down a power line.

A driver was northbound on S. Johnson in his white Ford F-150 just before 11 p.m. Prior to the cross intersection with Avenue K, police said that the driver told them that a cigarette ash fell into his lap, and he tried to throw it out the window.

In the act of doing so, police said, he lost track of the roadway. His truck hit a curb, struck a power pole, skidded and flipped-over. The impact with the power pole snapped the power lines, causing a spark above and the street light to go out. No power line fell, however.

The driver was trapped for some time after the rollover. The driver unsuccessfully tried to kick out the windshield. Then the first responders asked him to roll down the passenger side window, creating an opening for him to crawl out.

The driver was issued a citation for “Failure to maintain a single lane of traffic, causing a collision”.

AEP, the power company, is not reporting any outages in the San Angelo area. Other than minor cuts on the driver's feet from glass, he was uninjured and refused to be transported to the hospital.

Yosemite Sam........ If he had not hit a pole, it would have been just a plain old "rollover" accident, but since a pole was involved, that turns it into a "pollover" crash.....

If it were a pollover crash, it would actually be a civil rights violation too, because crashing into a polling place would certainly earn the ire of the DoJ.

In reality, it was late and my Dyslexia acts up after 11 p.m. It's been corrected.
