Driver in Critical Condition After Rollover Crash on Pecos

One man is in critical condition at Shannon Medical Center after the Ford Ranger he was driving flipped in a mysterious crash at Pecos and Van Buren today at mid-morning.

Traffic was blocked for more than an hour as first medics extracted the driver, and then police conducted a full accident investigation, which hasn’t yielded much information about who is at fault.

According to San Angelo Police Traffic Investigator Steve Quade, his only two witnesses are offering conflicting testimony. Here is what police have determined so far:

White Ford Ranger was headed eastbound on Pecos St. The black Nissan SUV was southbound on Van Buren. “They collided, and the pickup rolled,” Quade said. Police cannot determine who was at fault.

The Ranger driver is at Shannon in critical condition, he said. The Nissan driver was transported to San Angelo Community Medical Center via ambulance.

Quade said that he has not determined if there are other factors in this crash. Specifically he said he doesn’t believe alcohol was involved.
