Woman Sent to Hospital After Sand Truck Pulls in Front of Her

One woman was sent to the hospital this afternoon after a sand truck driver pulled out of an Allsup's parking lot in front of her car, causing a crash.

DPS Trooper Walts, who is investigating the crash, explained that the truck driver pulled out to turn northbound on 87 when the woman, driving a blue Mercury, couldn't stop in time and ran into the middle of the trailer. The impact occurred in the inside southbound lane.

Sand from the belly of the trailer and car parts littered the road. The front half of the Mercury was buried in the middle of the trailer.

Walts described the injuries the woman sustained in the crash as incapacitating, and said she was the only occupant of the vehicle. The truck driver had a passenger, however neither of the occupants of the truck were injured.

The truck driver was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.
