Goodfellow AFB Airman Injured in Crotch Rocket Crash

Just before 5 p.m. a Goodfellow AFB airman wiped out while driving solo in a motorcycle crash on Old Christoval Road near Jody Lane.

The San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Division was seen marking the roadway late Tuesday afternoon as part of the crash investigation. Old Christoval Road was closed to through traffic.

The southbound motorcyclist was a female airman from the base, police said. The initial investigation revealed that her front wheel locked up causing “wheel wobble” that led to her running off the right side of the roadway and getting thrown from the cycle. No other vehicles were involved.

San Angelo EMS transported the victim to Shannon Medical Center with what looked like a severely fractured leg. She was in uniform, witnesses said.

The motorcycle, seen above, luckily survived major damage.

She was wearing her helmet, police said. And that probably saved her life. She was complaining of a headache, not a crushed skull. Nonetheless, “It didn’t look good,” said the witness.

They get another chance to use "Crotch Rocket" in a story. That's awesome :-/

Thankfully she was wearing a helmet and the bike (Honda CBR) doesn't look too bad so hopefully she'll get back on the horse after a quick recovery.
