Ballinger Native Dies in Mysterious Crash Near Novice

 

A 79-year-old Ballinger woman died Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Novice Monday morning, reported the DPS.

According to the crash report, Margie Smith Strother was driving her 2010 Nissan Altima westbound on FM 702. When she approached the intersection with US 84, she failed to stop. Instead, she crossed the busy highway unscathed. But once on the other side, she crashed through a fence and into several trees. The vehicle spun around and came to rest facing Northwest in a pasture.

She was pronounced dead by Judge Billy Bledsoe at the scene.

DPS said the crash remains under investigation.

The crash happened 2.2 miles east of Novice at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. The roadway was dry and the skies cloudy, DPS reported.
