Ambulance Rushes At Least One to Hospital with Emergency Escort after Major Rollover Crash

 

A police cruiser with lights flashing and sirens blaring led the way for an ambulance rushing away from the scene of a major motor vehicle crash on Saturday night at 42nd and Armstrong, where a layer of debris and two totaled vehicles still occupy the road. 

Scanner traffic indicates that one person was ejected from a vehicle and lie on the road breathing, while another is reported to still be trapped in a car. These details have not yet been confirmed by emergency personnel. 

It appears only two passenger vehicles were involved in the crash, one of which is lying on its side. The front end of both vehicles is destroyed.

The San Angelo Fire Department and several police units are tending to the scene. An entire block of Armstrong has been blocked off to through traffic, from 41st to 43rd St. Car debris has flung across at least 40 feet of road in every direction. 

Witnesses on scene say that one car was making a turn onto 42nd from Armstong St. when the other car, heading the opposite direction, hit it head-on at accelerated speed. 

Police are currently investigating the situation, observing long lines of skid marks that stretch down the road.

No official word on the condition of the drivers has been given, nor is it yet known how many occupants were in each vehicle.

Update 10:50 p.m.

Firefighters have pulled out the jaws of life, hoses and tools and pulled them over to the vehicle that is lying on its side. They are cutting into the driver's side door frame at the window. 

Home Motors has arrived on scene to tow the vehicles.

Update 11:06 p.m.

Firemen have cut back the roof of the vehicle and are still tending to the scene.

The make and model of the vehicles is being withheld pending an official statement from the investigating officer.
