Police said a suspected drunk woman in her mid-20s was driving at a high rate of speed southwesterly on Field Street in a white Toyota RAV 4 and struck multiple vehicles before rolling over her SUV over into a yard of a residence.
She struck an unoccupied like new, late model black Jeep Cherokee in her opposing side of the road, pushing it onto its side. Then, ricocheting off the Jeep, she spun around and plowed into an unoccupied Dodge Ram 1500 pickup.
As the RAV 4 rolled over into the residence yard, she took out the homeowner’s mailbox.
“The driver appears to have just minor injuries. She does appear to be excessively intoxicated,” Officer Brian Bylsma said. He is leading the crash scene investigation.
When we left the scene, San Angelo police officers were conducting a DWI investigation. The RAV 4 driver refused both Breathalyzer and blood tests. “My assumption is that once she’s medically cleared, she’ll probably be arrested for driving while intoxicated,” Bylsma said.
There was an open container sitting in the middle of the street.
