Car Plows Through Tony Villarreal State Farm Office

A gold Plymouth Breeze has plowed through the front door of the Tony Villareal State Farm office at 1820 College Hills. The vehicle came to a stop at the reception desk, and at the moment, it does not appear that anyone was injured in the crash, however an ambulance left the scene without lights or sirens on.

Villareal is currently milling about the office space assessing the damage, while police officers are taking statements from witnesses.

The vehicle has a handicapped license plate. There is currently no word on whether the driver is insured.

The San Angelo Fire Department and SAPD are tending the scene.

Update 3:23 p.m.

Investigating officer Loudermilk said that an elderly woman had gone to the office to pay her bill, and as she attempted to park, she hit the accelerator rather than the brake pedal.

There were no injuries reported in the crash, and the person seated in the desk "that got the worst of it" happened to have moved out of the way. "We're real lucky that nobody got hurt," Loudermilk said. "The lady's a little shaken up."

All these wrecks around here lately, and especially those trying to drive through buildings, maybe San Angelo drivers should be mandated to re-certify on their driving tests and eye tests quarterly throughout the coming years.....
