Explorer Crashed into a Cadillac and Closed Loop 306 Exit Ramp

 

A two-vehicle accident closed down the exit ramp on Loop 306 at Southwest Blvd. for 35 minutes Friday afternoon. According to San Angelo police, the crash involved two vehicles.

A Ford Explorer was exiting the Loop via the Southwest exit ramp. She told police that that she looked down momentarily and when she looked back up, it was too late to stop for traffic in front of her waiting to merge onto the frontage road.

The Explorer plowed into the rear of a Cadillac SUV. The driver of the Cadillac was transported to Community Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police issued a citation to the driver of the Explorer for failure to control speed.

The crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. today.

"She told police that that she looked down momentarily", (i.e. texting, calling on cell phone). I suspect it was longer than a moment or maybe she was using an app for a crash course in highway safety! Too bad that someone else had to pay for her inattention by going to the hospital. Drivers using cell phones never cease to amaze with their ignorance!
