Multi-Vehicle Pile-up on Houston-Harte Closes U.S. 67 Exit

There was a six car, multi-collision crash on Houston-Harte near the U.S. 67 westbound exit, in front of Family Power Sports Wednesday afternoon.

A witness at the scene said that the driver of a black Dodge Ram 1500 pickup hydroplaned on the wet pavement, sending the vehicle careening off the exit roadway.

Somehow, a white four-door full-sized sedan maneuvered to avoid a crash. The evasive action by the white car startled the maroon Chevrolet Trailblazer to slow down abruptly, leading to a chain-reaction of rear-endings by two cars following closely behind—a maroon Honda sedan and a gray Toyota sedan.

Police at the scene said that some of the occupants were shaken up; none were transported to the hospital.

The San Angelo police and San Angelo EMS and Fire Departments tended to the scene.

The westbound exit ramp from the Houston-Harte Expressway to U.S. 67 westbound was closed for approximately 45 minutes. The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Update 5:48 p.m.

Another crash at the Loop 306 Southwest Blvd. exit has closed that exit.

This is a serious problem on the loop! Too many people speed and ride right on your bumper! I see people every day speeding, weaving in & out of traffic and tailgating. It's no wonder there are so many crashes on the loop. Think it's time for PD & the Sheriff's office to do another joint radar task force! That seems to slow traffic down at least for a week or so.
