Major Crash on Knickerbocker Road Following Dallas Cowboys Game

A major crash happened just after 11 p.m. Monday night, right after the Dallas Cowboys game. Two pickups, one a GMC Sierra and the other a Chevrolet Silverado, collided at the intersection of Knickerbocker Road and S. Jackson Street. There appear to be injuries. Over the radio, medics were advised that one of the occupants wasn’t moving.

The northeast-bound lanes of Knickerbocker Road are blocked. Traffic is being diverted around via Jackson Street. All occupants of the pickups appear young—either in their teens or early 20s.

Tending to the scene are the San Angelo Fire Department and EMS, and San Angelo police.

We will update this story when more information is available.

Update 12:03 a.m.

Officer Tim Coffman was the investigating officer. He said that police were called just after 11 p.m. for an “unknown accident” at the Knickerbocker/Jackson intersection. While on the way to the crash scene, the incident was upgraded by dispatch to a major motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Upon arrival, the driver of one of the vehicles was complaining of leg pains. She refused transport to the hospital in the ambulance after receiving treatment at the scene, though. Nobody was transported to the hospital.

According to the findings of the police investigation, a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup on Knickerbocker ran a red light and rammed into the other pickup, a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup that was northbound on Jackson. The young woman driving the 2008 GMC Sierra was the one with the leg pains. She was cited for running the red light. The occupants of the other Sierra were uninjured.

What does the football game have to do with this accident? I didn't realize the Cowboys played in San Angelo.
You can't go into any establishment and not see the Cowboys game. It may be semi-relevant to the story if the drivers were where they were because they were leaving a restaurant after watching the game.
