One Sent to Hospital in Crash on 37th and Grape Creek Road

A black Ford Taurus and a white Buick Century collided at Grape Creek Road and 37th St. Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the female driver of the Taurus being sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.

investigating officer Brian Bylsma stated that a witness told him the Buick was traveling north on Grape Creek Road when the Taurus pulled away from a stop sign and started to head northbound in front of the Buick.

"The white passenger car did try pull to the side and tried to skid, but because of the traffic coming southbound, she wasn't able to cross over," Bylsma said.

The driver of the Taurus had two children in the car, Bylsma said. One was wearing a seatbelt and the other was in a child seat. The children, Bylsma said, appeared to be fine. In the Buick was a woman and her grandson, and neither sustained injuries in the crash.

The driver of the Taurus will likely be cited for failure to yield right of way at the stop sign, Bylsma said, pending her statement.
