4x4 Ford Pickup Goes Up in Flames in Santa Rita

A 4x4 Ford pickup truck went up in flames at the 1300 block of South Monroe in the middle of Santa Rita. The 911 call came in at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The smoke could be seen rising above the city from the San Angelo LIVE! World Headquarters on Beauregard Avenue downtown.

Our reporter at the scene reports that the San Angelo Fire Department was very expeditious in extinguishing the blaze. "By the time I arrived, only a small flame could be seen rising above the hood," John Basqez said. The entire front of the truck is burned badly.

Firefighters are opening the hood to make sure there is no chance of a secondary fire.

South Monroe is closed to through traffic until the carcass of the truck is removed from the roadway.
