Intoxicants May Have Been Involved in 5 p.m. Chadbourne at 7th Street Crash

Just after 5:07 p.m. today, Police were dispatched to 7th and Chadbourne Streets for the report of a major traffic crash involving three vehicles.

The driver of a black 2002 Ford Expedition, 29-year-old Margaret Del Rio, was injured and transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

Police suspected Del Rio to be under the influence of an intoxicant at the time of the crash and she was technically arrested by Officers who read her the Statutory Warning for DWI.

Del Rio consented to a voluntary blood draw that was obtained by Shannon Medical personnel.  Because Del Rio still required medical attention, she was released to the custody of medical personnel and was not transported to jail.  It is unknown if she has since been released.

Del Rio was heading westbound in the Expedition on 7th when she ran the red light at Chadbourne.  This caused her to collide with a black 1987 Ford F-150 that was northbound on Chadbourne.  The driver, a 48-year-old man, was transported to Community Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

The force of the collision caused the black F150 to travel across Chadbourne from east to west where it collided with a black 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe that was southbound on Chadbourne.  The driver was not injured.  However, Medics evaluated a six-year-old female passenger at the scene.  She was not transported for medical care.

It's likely due to the major influx of oil field traffic in town.... Had there not been that many cars on the road like in the old days, she could have probably driven drunk and not had the accident.....
