#COVER1: North Shore Emerges as Texas Football Giant Thanks to Gutsy Play Calling

ARLINGTON, TX -- The rematch of last year's High School Football game of the year did not disappoint as the Duncanville Panthers faced off against the Galena Park North Shore Mustangs.

The Panthers started with the ball but had a quick three and out. North Shore took advantage of that with a five play 57 yards drive. This drive ended with a 30-yard touchdown by QB Dematrius Davis.

Duncanville did not take that touchdown lightly and answered with a drive of their own. They took it 68 yards in nine plays and finished it off with a Roderick Daniels 25-yard rushing touchdown. This brought the score to a tie at the end of the first quarter 7-7.

To start the second quarter, Davis and company put up 12 plays of offense. They weren't able to move it all the way into the endzone but instead settled for a 39-yard field. This made the score 10-7 North Shore.

The Panthers saw their chance to take the lead and took advantage of it. They drove the ball 75 yards and scored on a goal line stand with Freshman QB Chris Parson. This gave them a 14-10 lead.

North Shore responded with a long kickoff followed by only 1:47 of offense. Roger Hagan got the call near the endzone and scored a 2-yard run. The lead flipped again 17-14 North Shore.

To end the half, Duncanville got stopped on third down on their own 29-yard line. They were still able to get points out of it thanks to their kicker making a 46-yard field goal. The two were tied at 17.

The second half was all North Shore. They pitched a shutout and were able to tack on two more touchdowns.

The first was another goal line run by Hagan and the other was a 44-yard pass by Davis to Charles King. The final score to the game was 31-17, with North Shore winning this year's rematch.

Dematrius Davis was named the offensive MVP and Corey Flagg was named Defensive MVP.

The Galena Park North Shore Mustangs are the 6A D1 State Champions. This is their second consecutive state title.
