Brent Davis Press Conference: "I want to be in a big district."

SAN ANGELO, TX — Brent Davis touched on a variety of topics during his press conference this week.  His Bobcats are fresh off a second half, comeback win against Pebble Hills in what was their last tune-up before district competition starts.

One of the most interesting parts of the presser came when Davis gave his thoughts on district alignment.  The coach talked about the process of deciding out of district schedule and the district that it depends on.  He also gave his thoughts on an ideal district make-up saying, "I want to be in a big district.  I wish the UIL would put us in an 8-team district with Midland [and Lee], Odessa [and Permian], Frenship, Tascosa, Abilene, and us.  That's eight really good teams as close as we can be to all of them.  Then we only have to find three non-district games and hopefully they [the UIL] will listen."

At the beginning of the video, Davis discussed his team's overall performance against Pebble Hills.  He mentioned the long travel, early start time, and temperature as reasons his players might have looked sluggish to start the game.  After halftime, Central came out a different team and Davis shed light on what that halftime speech looked like.

Later on, he graded his team going into district play and what his team needs to improve on in order to have success.  Central has looked very good in spurts, he said, but consistency will be the key to making it out of DFW in good shape.

Davis wrapped things up by looking ahead to Friday.  Weatherford will come to town with the number one rated pocket passer in the state, Ken Seals, and Davis gave a preview on the challenge he poses, and how he has improved from a remarkable junior campaign.
