WATCH: Drought Conditions, High Winds Spur Wildfires Across the Concho Valley

San Angelo, TX- Tom Green County is currently under a burn ban and Volunteer Fire Departments responded to several wildfires along U.S. 67 in Irion County Tuesday.

On HWY 67 several grass fires burned the barrow ditches between San Angelo and Mertzon in the past weeks. While trains can cause fires, 2 burns were on the opposite side of the highway.

Trailer chains can also cause sparks which cause fires as well as carelessness like throwing cigarettes out of the windows of your vehicles.

Also adding to the danger is windy weather and dry conditions.

Bans against outdoor burning will continue in counties across the Concho Valley as long as dry and windy conditions continue.
