Tom Green County Parks: The Day After the 4th of July

The parks we visited late last week in the southwest quadrant of Tom Green County were for the most part spared the wrath of revelry of the Fourth of July overnight. Last week, we toured the same parks to record their condition before the July 4th weekend, anticipating the parks would be full of litter and trash.

The parks faired well, however.

Christoval’s Pugh Park appeared the cleanest this morning, with a few campers just awakening for the day. Trash was piled high in the dumpsters and placed in bags stacked around trash cans.

At Mineral Wells Crossing, just west of US 277 south, the trash was well under control, with occasional litter scattered about.

Foster Park along Spring Creek off FM 2335 saw the most trash. Spent fireworks were littered on the ground, but not in the volume of past years.

This year, July 4 fell on a Monday. Maybe having to report back to work the very next day kept many revelers home last night. Or, maybe park patrons this year cleaned up their mess.

Whatever the case, these Tom Green County Parks were enjoyed by many and left relatively clean.
