Detectives with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play in the recent and curious death of a 28-year-old Midland woman.
The woman, Heather McCall, was found dead in the passenger seat of her black Dodge Ram 1500 on July 18 on Old Sterling City Highway by two residents of the area. One of those residents, a woman, had been out mowing her yard earlier that morning and noticed the truck. She and her husband stopped by the truck later that day at approximately 5:40 p.m. and found McCall’s body.
When deputies and medical personnel arrived, the truck was treated as a possible crime scene and gloved medics opened the door to confirm McCall was deceased.
McCall’s husband showed up during the investigation and confirmed her identity by identifying tattoos, then told one of the deputies, “oh, I know what happened here”.
McCall’s body was immediately sent off for autopsy and preliminary reports indicated that her cause of death was undetermined; however, on Thursday, TGCSO spokeswoman Lt. Christina Lopez related that lead investigator Cory Speck stated that he has no reason to suspect there was any foul play contributing to McCall’s death.
Speck is still awaiting autopsy results, and should they reveal that McCall’s death was the result of a criminal act, a criminal investigation will follow.
Further information is not available at this time.
