Suspect Jailed After Assaulting Police Officer

Richard David Rashid, 21, was jailed yesterday after assaulting a police officer that responded to a domestic dispute in the 600 block of S. Irving. The Tom Green County inmate bookings report reflects that Rashid has been charged with two counts of assaulting a public servant, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (all felonies), resisting arrest/search/transport, and a motion to revoke warrant probation warrant relating back to an October 2013 conviction for obstruction/retaliation.

Rashid's first criminal entry into records in Tom Green County dates back to 2010, when he received nine months probation for possession of marijuana. His jail records reflect a relative frequency since 2010, as he has been put behind bars on multiple different occasions for marijuana possession, drug possession and assault.

Rashid was accompanied by another 13 individuals that were booked into the county jail on Monday, carrying two counts of assault, tthree for possession, two for PI and two for marijuana possession among them. One more charge apiece appeared on the report for theft, minor in possession of tobacco and evading arrest.

Twenty-six inmates were released on Monday.
