Cornielus Tyrone Cormier, 25, has been identified as the suspect involved in the car and foot chase Wednesday night that had a section of Bryant around the Cross Keys apartment complex cordoned off for a police perimeter.
San Angelo Police Officer Spearman had attempted to pull Cormier over at 6:18 p.m. for speeding, when Cormier sped away in a blue Dodge Caliber, leading the officer on a brief chase reaching speeds upwards of 70 mph before skidding into the Cross Keys complex parking lot.
Cormier was apprehended some time later in front of a residence in the 1200 block of Abe St., which he had entered after running through the parking lot of the apartment complex and jumping the fence to the residence's backyard.
Upon his arrest, police revealed that Cormier was a wanted man, with multiple felony warrants for a previous charge. Cormier's criminal history shows that he had four motion to revoke (MTR) warrants for a robbery that occurred on March 30, 2007 at the time of his arrest.
Cormier was booked into the county jail at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday by San Angelo Police Officers, and was charged with evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle, three committments and injury to a child/elderly/disabled person. The final charge dates back to an offense Cormier is accused of committing on Aug. 19.
Cormier remains in custody, and was arraigned this morning and no bond has been set, according to county records.
