It’s that time of year where the spirit of gratitude and giving has swept the community with open arms and broadened smiles. As many are inspired by the holiday magic, others are left without basic needs. For the 10th year running, the United Way is reaching out to those less fortunate with the annual Hope for the Holidays campaign.
Since its inception in 2003, Hope for the Holidays has matched people who need help with people who are generous enough to provide. Currently Hope for the Holidays is seeking donors to make tax-deductable contributions to needy citizens in our community.
Over the years, Hope for the Holidays has provided help to many people in various situations. Funds have been used to pay for wheelchair lifts, ramps, refrigerators, kitchen wares, furniture, coats, blankets, heaters and emergency travel, and every cent goes to those in need.
Hope for the Holidays is a community based program designed to provide assistance to individuals who are unable to receive assistance from existing services or agencies. The program is organized,
sponsored and led as a philanthropic effort by the United Way of the Concho Valley, Foster
Communications and the San Angelo Standard Times. One hundred percent of funds collected by Hope for the Holidays is disbursed to assist individuals and families.
If you would like to nominate yourself or someone you know for assistance from Hope for the Holidays, simply write a letter describing the situation and what is needed to solve the problem. Include all contact information and the projected cost. The Hope for the Holidays Committee members will review requests for assistance and determine which cases they can help.
Holiday donations in honor of someone can be made and an acknowledgement will be sent to them. To donate to the program or to nominate someone to the program please mail contributions to:
