San Angelo to be Overcast and Cold Saturday, Roads May Improve, Some Flights Still Cancelled

City of San Angelo and Tom Green County Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Mild gave a report this morning on the weather conditions for Saturday:

"Today's high is projected to be 23 degrees, with overcast skies. Tonight's temperature is projected to be 15 degrees. Some very light patchy moisture may move in during the late afternoon hours and into the night, but is not projected to have any significant impact on us.

"The Police Department reported about nine traffic accidents overnight with only five of them being weather-related. The Sheriff's Office reported seven accidents, most on U.S. Highway 87 South. All were weather-related.

"Most roadways are mostly clear. Overpasses and bridges away from the Houston Harte Expressway still have ice on them, and could be a source of problems. There are scattered patches of ice in the more protected areas, but overall travel should be OK as long as the drivers are cautious.

"Most overpasses on Houston Harte are clear and passable, but again, there are some patches of ice on them. The bridge over Houston Harte on Glenna Street is still pretty much a solid sheet of ice.

"It appears the remainder of this weather event will be primarily a cold weather event with minimal precipitation impacts through Sunday."
