Forger Chooses Most Convenient Bank for Arresting Officers

Last Friday was an exciting day in the Wells Fargo Building, as a check forger--whose handiwork was obviously not too spectacular--was on the prowl. San Angelo Police Officer E. Smith was dispatched to the bank at 10:40 a.m. where he identified the suspect as 23-year-old Floyd Harvey and found a stolen checkbook and social security card.

Harvey was smart enough to steal a social security card, but not smart enough to pick a bank further away than a street-width from the county jail. Hence, response time was fast and the ride to jail even quicker.

The victim of the theft was able to confirm that the stolen goods belonged to him, but since the victim was out of town, officers had to go to the residence to investigate a burglary.

The house itself was untouched, but the car had been burglarized.

Harvey was charged with Burglary of a Vehicle and Forgery of a Financial Instrument.
