Modeling classes for anyone five and up will be offered at Sunset Mall for the annual winter ‘Spread the Cheer Fashion Show’.
“It’s a great opportunity for kids to do something they’ve never done before,” said Ami Mizell-Flint, a former model and the instructor of the courses.
“I heavily emphasize the self-confidence aspect of it,” says Mizell-Flint, “you don’t have to be 5’9” and 120 [pounds] to be a model.”
Now most people think of girls when they hear model, but that isn’t the case.
“We’ve had a lot of kids of all ages, especially little girls, in the past couple years we’ve gotten some boys to have fun modeling too,” explains Mizell-Flint.
She emphasizes that all the stores in the mall have a demographic that can be filled, so anyone should come and try it.
Mizell-Flint teaches the basics like makeup, etiquette, and runway modeling, and with it being a winter fashion show, puts emphasis on winter accessories like scarves and hats.
She has experience with internationally known Barbizon Modeling School and Agency and can advise those interested in modeling beyond San Angelo.
For those unfamiliar with Barbizon, the site states, “The Barbizon experience is about discovering what makes you special, and developing your one-of-a-kind “star” quality for the whole world to see. Our expert modeling and acting training, along with life-skills instruction, will give you the confidence and tools to shine for a lifetime.”
