Ballinger Radio Station KRUN Announces Return to Airwaves

BALLINGER, TX — Ballinger radio station KRUN 1400-AM announced Thursday that it will soon be able to broadcast again.

The radio station, which is the only locally owned one in Runnels County, had its building severely damaged by a storm May 10, which eventually forced it to shut down June 3.

At the time, its owner, J.R. Dunn, said it would take an estimated $125,000 in repairs to save the building and purchase new equipment. He said he was holding out hope for a miracle.

That miracle arrived over the last few weeks to save the station.

“Thanks to the incredible support of our community, local businesses, organizations and loyal listeners - we are rebuilding and returning to the air,” KRUN stated on Facebook. “Thank you for standing with KRUN Radio. We can’t wait to be back with you!”

KRUN announced streaming will return in mid-July, while on-air broadcasting will return around Aug. 1.

The radio station has been on the air since 1947, serving Runnels County and the AgriPlex of Central West Texas.

KRUN is now seeking advertisers, business partners and community sponsors. For more information, contact Steve Everett at [email protected].
