MILES, TX — Sklenarik’s Smoked Meats in Miles recently won six awards at the Texas Association of Meat Processors convention.
The family-owned business, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, was named the grand champion in the boneless hams category.
Sklenarik’s was the reserve grand champion in specialty snack sticks, and the champion in four other categories — whole muscle value-added product, fresh pork sausage, commercial bacon and summer sausage.
“Every year, this event is a valuable opportunity for us to connect with fellow processors, share experiences, and bring fresh insights back home,” Sklenarik’s posted on its Facebook page. “It’s always a privilege to collaborate with the best in the business!
“We are incredibly proud to share that we took home top recognition in six different categories.”
Sklenarik’s is located at 108 Robinson St. in downtown Miles, about 20 miles northeast of San Angelo.
Owner Paul Sklenarik has run the business since 1985. He said their most popular items are their smoked turkey, smoked sausage, summer sausage, beef jerky and ham.
The store also carries canned goods such as pickles, beets and salsas.
