SAN ANGELO, TX – The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1852 Sherwood Way in San Angelo is undergoing a major remodel, with construction already underway inside and outside the store, the retailer stated in a news release.
The remodel is expected to last several weeks, with work taking place after hours to keep the store open for customers.
Walmart officials say the project is part of a broader initiative to upgrade multiple stores across Texas in 2025, enhancing customer convenience and shopping experiences.
“Having been a part of the San Angelo community for many years, we are always looking for ways to better serve our customers,” Store Manager Alexa Alverado said. “Remodeling our current store will allow us to offer our customers greater convenience and an enhanced shopping environment, and we ask for customers’ patience while work is underway to deliver those improvements.”
Once complete, the San Angelo store will feature a variety of improvements, including:
- A newly painted building interior and exterior
- Additional sections in grocery aisles
- Upgraded parking lot with re-striped spaces
- Improved online grocery pickup area
- Front-end renovations
- Fully remodeled restrooms with modern fixtures
- Expanded product selections in multiple departments
- New flooring, lighting, and signage for easier navigation
- New shelving and fixtures for better store flow
- An upgraded deli and bakery with an expanded selection
- A remodeled break room for store associates
Walmart’s remodel will also incorporate “Store of the Future” features, such as:
- “Activated corners” with interactive displays in certain departments
- More open space for easier exploration of products
- Digital touchpoints with QR codes and screens provide more product and service options. For example, in Walmart’s Pets area, a customer may scan the QR code to find additional dog bed options, learn about Walmart’s pet insurance service options or have a 20-pound bag of kibble delivered to their door.
Additionally, the store will continue offering time-saving services like grocery pickup, contact-free delivery, and Walmart Pay, a touch-free way to pay.
San Angelo Walmart associates plan to host a community event upon completion to showcase the renovations and new customer-focused amenities.
