AMARILLO, TX - The first Buc-ee’s in the Texas Panhandle is set to open earlier than expected, with a grand opening scheduled for Dec. 16.
Initially slated for February 2025, the Amarillo location will now welcome customers just in time for the holiday season.
Located at 9900 East Interstate 40, the 74,000-square-foot travel center will feature 108 fueling stations, 24 EV charging stations, and create at least 200 full-time jobs. Starting pay for employees will be above minimum wage, and the positions come with benefits and perks.
The timeline to construct a Buc-ee's typically takes 16 months. Groundbreaking for the Amarillo Buc-ee’s occurred in late October 2023.
The new location joins Buc-ee’s record of expansion, following the opening of its largest store in Luling and a new outlet in Hillsboro earlier this year. The chain also announced plans for locations in Arkansas, Colorado, and Ohio.
Opening day festivities are expected to include holiday merchandise such as Buc-ee’s signature Santa-themed onesies, elf slippers, and Christmas-themed goods like gift wrap and nutcrackers. If consistent with past openings, doors will open at 6 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony later in the day.
