SAN ANGELO, TX – A new Amazon facility in San Angelo is set to open on December 5, bringing job opportunities and economic growth to the area, according to an update provided at Tuesday morning’s City Council meeting by Michael Looney, Vice President of Economic Development for the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.
The facility, located at 3850 Venture Drive, is a 35,000-square-foot distribution center on a 12-acre site. The project, which took about a year to complete, has been well-received by Amazon and its development branch, Devco. Looney noted the company’s satisfaction with San Angelo’s business environment.
The facility will employ between 150 and 200 workers, with hiring already underway. Positions available range from drivers and facility workers, such as pickers and sorters, to management roles. Job seekers can apply through Amazon’s website, with postings listed under San Angelo or as “WTX9.”
“This is a good opportunity for San Angelo,” Looney said. “They’re very pleased with us, and we’re very pleased with them.”
