SAN ANGELO, TX - Several top employers in Texas have earned recognition in Forbes’ 2024 ranking of "America’s Best Employers by State," with Houston Methodist leading the way as the top company in the state.
The annual list, produced in collaboration with market research firm Statista, surveyed 160,000 employees from across the U.S. who work for companies with at least 500 employees.
Houston Methodist, a healthcare and social services provider founded in 1919, topped the Texas list for its employee satisfaction and retention efforts. The non-profit organization employs over 32,000 workers and operates seven hospitals, including its flagship Houston Methodist Hospital.
H-E-B Grocery Company, headquartered in San Antonio, ranked third among Texas employers. The popular grocery chain, which has more than 340 stores and employs 154,000 people, has maintained its reputation for providing a strong work environment.
Toyota North America, based in Plano, secured the fourth spot, and Cook Children’s Health Care System in Fort Worth rounded out the top five. Both companies were noted for their contributions to employee well-being and workplace culture.
Forbes’ list also includes NASA, which ranked eighth, and MD Anderson Cancer Center, another healthcare provider in Houston, which landed at No. 11.
Conroe ISD came in at No. 13.
The 2024 Best Employers by State list recognized a total of 1,294 organizations.
