Conn’s is Closing

SAN ANGELO, TX — Conn’s HomePlus is closing all of its stores across the country following its recent filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The company, headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, has announced that it will shut down more than 170 stores in 15 states, a move that will affect over 4,000 employees.

The bankruptcy filing, submitted on July 23, revealed that the company is burdened with nearly $2 billion in debt owed to more than 25,000 creditors. This financial strain has led Conn’s to begin a nationwide liquidation sale, offering discounts ranging from 30% to 50% on all items in-store and online. The prices on the website are regular retail. The discount is applied during the checkout process.

The closure includes over 70 stores in Texas alone, as well as locations in Florida, North Carolina, and Louisiana. Despite the impending closures, the company has confirmed that customers can still order items depending on warehouse inventory. However, all sales are final, with limited exclusions, as the company pushes to liquidate its remaining stock.

Customers who recently purchased furniture under warranty are advised to check back with Conn’s in one week for updates on their FurnitureGuard protection. Additionally, the company has clarified that financing agreements will remain in effect, with customers expected to continue making payments until their balances are fully paid off. However, Conn’s is no longer offering new financing options.

The retailer has not yet set a firm date for the final closure of all stores, as the liquidation process continues. Conn’s will maintain operations until all merchandise has been sold, according to information from the company.

For further questions, Conn’s has directed customers to contact their customer service at 800-511-5750 for assistance with financing or other inquiries.
