SAN ANGELO, TX – Potbelly Sandwich Shop is set to expand its presence in Texas, with plans to open four new locations, including one in San Angelo.
This comes as part of a new development agreement with long-time franchisee Dora Braun.
Braun, who has been a successful Potbelly franchisee for over a decade, has committed to opening four locations over the next four years.
The new stores will be located in Midland-Odessa, San Angelo, and San Antonio, specifically the New Braunfels area.
The order of these openings will depend on the availability of real estate.
Braun said she fell in love with Potbelly’s in Houston, frequenting the sandwich shop two to three times a week.
Her husband suggested bringing the franchise to West Texas.
“I love the West Texas area,” Braun said. Although she resides in Midland, she has family in San Angelo, making the location important to her.
“San Angelo is important to me because I have family there,” she said. “I think the clientele is there, and we want to bring a great product.”
Currently, Braun is exploring potential locations.
“Right now, I can’t really say what’s going to happen first, but we are definitely looking,” she said. “The hardest part is finding the real estate and the leasing. As soon as we can lock something in, we’re ready.”
Potbelly’s Senior Vice President of Franchising, Lynette McKee, noted that the exact timeline for the openings is uncertain.
“It really depends on where the available real estate is first,” McKee said. “She might wind up developing in San Antonio first, or it could be San Angelo or the Midland market.”
Braun expressed excitement about the expansion.
“We’re excited to bring it to San Angelo,” she said. “We’re excited to be part of the community. To be able to impact the community and create jobs for the community is important.”
Potbelly Sandwich Shop, established in 1977, currently operates 430 locations nationwide, with plans to open 220 more in the coming years. The brand is known for its diverse menu, including hot sandwiches, salads, milkshakes, cookies, mac and cheese, and soups.
