SAN ANGELO, TX — Some unfortunate news came out recently about one of San Angelo’s local breweries. SoCo Taphouse & Brew Co., located at 113 E Concho Avenue, will be closing its doors under the current ownership.
The Taphouse made the announcement on its Facebook page on January 19.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news that SoCo Taphouse will be closing its doors under the current owner, with the last day of operation being 01/31/2024, the SoCo Taphouse and Brew Co. said. “We understand just how much this beloved bar means to our community and its dedicated employees.”
However, there is hope for those who frequent this establishment. The current owner said that they are willing to sell the bar to Devin Nordin, a current employee at SoCo Taphouse and Brew. There is a GoFundMe set up to help raise money to save the bar. Currently, the effort has over 3,600 dollars raised in the attempt to “save the bar.” To donate or show support for SoCo, click HERE.
The bar asks the community for support during this time to help Devin keep the bar open. SoCo Taphouse and Brew Co. even held a community fundraiser over the weekend, selling food from All Smoked BBQ, CrazyFruit, and Top Dog Hotdogs food trucks in front of the bar. The vendors donated 10% of all proceeds to Devin in her attempt to raise enough money to keep the taphouse open.
One more fundraising event will be held on Wednesday, January 31. SoCo Taphouse and Brewing Company will hold a brisket benefit on Wednesday and will offer brisket plates for $12 apiece. The event starts at 6 p.m., and 100% of the proceeds go towards saving the bar.
