ARLINGTON, Texas – In a significant announcement on January 10, 2024, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Jim Minge, the Chief Executive Officer of Texas Trust Credit Union, to serve an additional term on the Texas Credit Union Commission. Minge will assume the role of Chairman, steering the Commission's initiatives until February 2029.
The Commission holds authority over the Texas Credit Union Department, responsible for regulating all credit unions organized and chartered within the state. The Governor-appointed board collaborates closely with the Commissioner of the Texas Credit Union Department, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the agency. Notably, Texas' state-chartered credit unions boast an impressive total of over $57 billion in assets and cater to the financial needs of 4 million members.
Jim Minge expressed his dedication to the Commission's mission, emphasizing its crucial role in shaping effective policies for the Texas Credit Union Department. He stated, "The CU Commission helps ensure the Texas CU Department has effective policies in place that serve the collective body of the state’s 4 million members." Minge sees his role on the Commission as instrumental in fortifying the credit union movement, enabling each credit union to fulfill its mission of "people helping people." With over 30 years of experience in the credit union industry, Minge is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a bachelor of business administration in accounting degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
