Monica Ramos Picked to Lead Downtown San Angelo, Inc.

SAN ANGELO, TX – In a significant leadership transition, Downtown San Angelo, Inc. has announced Monica Ramos as its new Executive Director, set to take the helm on January 1, 2024. This strategic appointment follows the retirement announcement of Del Velasquez, the current Executive Director.

Monica Ramos, a familiar face within the organization, began her journey with Downtown San Angelo, Inc. in 2019 as an Office Manager. Her rapid ascent within the organization saw her taking on the role of Assistant Director in 2021, a position in which she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision.

Ramos's career has been marked by notable achievements, including receiving the prestigious "20 under 40" award from the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce in 2021. Her active involvement in the community extends beyond her professional role. She currently serves as the Treasurer for the San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Museum & Cultural Center, contributing significantly to cultural events like the Dia de los Muertos memorial and celebration of life. Her community engagement also includes participation in the Concho Cadre Steering Committee and holding influential positions on the boards of the Railway Museum of San Angelo and the Young Professionals of San Angelo.

One of Ramos's most impactful contributions to Downtown San Angelo, Inc. was leading the rebranding of the Downtown Stroll and initiating the "Downtown Strong" campaign. This campaign played a crucial role in reviving downtown businesses following the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing her ability to lead through challenging times.
