Final Paving of College Hills Blvd. Begins Wednesday

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Over the past nearly two years, a sweeping transformation has been underway across various streets in the heart of San Angelo, marking a substantial chapter within the extensive ten-year, $80 million street reconstruction initiative. MLK Boulevard, Bell Street, Southwest Boulevard, Howard Street, and College Hills have all undergone meticulous refurbishments, reshaping the cityscape and revitalizing crucial thoroughfares.

The culmination of this multi-year endeavor has reached a crucial juncture as bids have been recently awarded for the imminent commencement of reconstruction work along N. Chadbourne Street slated to kick off in January 2024. This next phase signifies a continuous commitment to the comprehensive revitalization efforts that have been steadfastly progressing throughout the city.

However, the focus momentarily turns to the final touches being applied to College Hills Boulevard, specifically from W. Avenue N to Millbrook Drive. This stretch, a pivotal artery for commuters and locals alike, is poised for its ultimate transformation as the concluding phase of paving is set to commence from Wednesday, December 6, through Friday, December 8.

The significance of this final paving endeavor cannot be understated—it symbolizes the culmination of tireless dedication and planning invested in this segment of the larger reconstruction project. To ensure seamless execution, one of the two lanes along College Hills Boulevard will be temporarily closed during this period. Yet, the flow of traffic will persist unabated, expertly guided by flaggers who will adeptly direct the two-way flow of vehicles through the construction zone.

The community eagerly anticipates the conclusion of this transformative phase, recognizing that the temporary inconvenience will pave the way for enhanced safety, smoother rides, and an aesthetically refreshed College Hills Boulevard. As December 6 approaches, residents and commuters brace for a brief disruption, understanding that this short-term inconvenience heralds a long-term boon for the city’s infrastructure and the overall quality of life for its inhabitants.
