City Office Closures for Thanksgiving Affect Trash Pickup

SAN ANGELO, Texas – During the Thanksgiving holiday, city offices in San Angelo are set to close on Thursday and Friday, November 23-24.

Trash collection will be halted, and the landfill is scheduled to shut down on Thanksgiving Day. As a result, trash services will experience a one-day delay, with pickup and landfill operations resuming on Friday.

Fort Concho, a local historic site, will observe closure on Thanksgiving Day. However, on Friday, November 24, it will open its Barracks 1 Visitor Center for self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fort will also maintain its usual weekend hours, welcoming visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 26.

The offices of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will remain closed from Wednesday, November 22, through Friday, November 24.

Several other city operations will also suspend activities on November 23-24, including the water billing offices, Station 618, Santa Fe Crossing senior centers, Parks and Recreation offices, Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers, the McNease Convention Center, San Angelo-Tom Green County Health Department, Fairmount Cemetery’s business offices, Municipal Court, and the San Angelo Animal Shelter.

Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, November 27, when city offices will reopen their doors.
