ERCOT Requests Voluntary Conservation Thursday Evening

AUSTIN – ERCOT has asked Texas residents to voluntarily conserve electricity Thursday evening.

According to a request from ERCOT, due to the current record temperatures across the state, Texas is experiencing extremely high energy use.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas* (ERCOT), the organization that manages the electricity grid, is requesting that Texans conserve their energy use in support of grid stability.

Support grid stability by:

• Raising your thermostat by a degree or two, if safe to do so.

• Limiting your usage of large appliances (i.e., washer/dryer, etc.)

• Turn off and unplug non-essential lights and appliances.
