West Texas Lawyer Fighting to Clean Up the Oil Patch

SAN ANGELO – The 19th West Texas Legislative Summit held at Angelo State University Tuesday brought a diverse group of stakeholders from across West Texas together with Austin and Washington elected officials to hash out difficult issues and provide solutions to the most perplexing challenges of the day.

One of the voices resounding for common sense solutions to plugging environmentally dangerous leaking oil and gas wells across West Texas is attorney Sara Stogner.  Stogner gained national attention while running for Texas Railroad Commissioner in 2022.

Stogner explains how injecting produced water causes all kinds of issues that need to be addressed to ensure the water supply for the western half of the state:

Stogner's website describes her as an Oil, Gas, Cannabis, Aviation Attorney for Texas and Louisiana.

During our wide ranging conversation, Stogner outlined her political plans going forward.

Stogner was born in Huntsville, Alabama. She earned a B.S. in international trade and finance from Louisiana State University in 2005 and a J.D. from Louisiana State University in 2008. Her career experience includes founding Stogner Legal and working as an oil and gas attorney. Stogner has been affiliated with the Texas and Louisiana state bar associations, the Federal Bar Association, the Women's Energy Network, the Association of Energy Service Companies, and the Texas Oil & Gas Association.
