WATCH: Concrete Workers Return to Southwest McDonald's Wednesday

SAN ANGELO, TX – With crews renewing demolition of the parking lot at the Southwest McDonald's, could it be possible that the store will open up soon?

As previously reported, on June 20, 2023, the new McDonald's restaurant on the 4300 block of Southwest Blvd. was built from the ground up but never opened.

During the work, the parking lot of the restaurant failed to meet the expectations of franchisee Eric Wilson and his team of engineers. This has caused the McDonald's to remain closed despite having an entirely new building. For the original story, see: "Why the New McDonald's on Southwest Will Not Open Anytime Soon."

Less than a month later, City of San Angelo building crews and engineers were seen meeting at that location. Then, on Aug. 2, 2023, demolition crews could be seen tearing out the concrete parking lot and the drive-thru section of the location.

Could this mean progress for San Angelo's third McDonald's? Only time will tell.
