SAN ANGELO— A new sweet shop has opened in San Angelo next to the Sunset Mall.
Just over a week old, Sweet V’s Candy Shop started slinging sugary treats in San Angelo. This locally owned small business is the culmination of hard work done by the Betancur family. Johnny, Virginia, Valerie Betancur and the family wanted to bring something new and unique to San Angelo.
Unique is a good word to use since the Betancur’s wanted to bring in different candies that aren’t offered at the big box chain stores like Wal-Mart. While Reese’s Cups and M&M’s are available in the new store, nostalgic candies like candy cigarettes are also on the shelves.
An entire wall of the store is also Mexican candies from Mexico.
While it is a candy shop, sodas are also available and not just the normal Coke, Sprite, or Fanta but soft drinks like an Italian White Peach soda, the famous Jones sodas, and a sour “Slime Licker” soda.
Things are just getting started for Sweet V’s Candy Shop and the Betancurs and other candies and soda could be added in the future. But for now, it’s one step at a time for the family business.
Sweet V’s Candy Shop is located at 4241 Sunset Drive in the shopping center next to Chili's in the Sunset Mall parking lot. The store is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
