SAN ANGELO – San Angelo Animal Services officials Wednesday announced the shelter will not take in anymore dogs for the rest of the month unless the population drops below 170; there are currently 181 dogs housed there.
To meet the standards of care for animals in shelter by our Animal Services Division, the City of San Angelo recently set a maximum of 180 dogs and 120 cats that the shelter can safely house. Canine intake will close to the public when the shelter population exceeds 170 dogs to avoid exceeding that capacity.
As of Wednesday, Nov. 2, the shelter has 181 dogs. Due to this, intake is closed today and any additional days the population remains in excess of 170 dogs until the end of November.
Ways citizens can help reduce shelter population:
• Ask us about the Good Samaritan program – hold the pet for a few days while locating owner.
• If staying out of traffic, leave pet in home neighborhood. 70% of dogs stay within one mile of home.
• Reach out to local rescues.
• If a danger to itself or others, call us at 325-657-4224 to dispatch an Animal Services officer.

Looks like the Council has made a big mistake on trying to cover up their "mistakes" of money management ..................They are so used to having their way that they forget the Law !
Also why don't they obtain the unmarked cars from the large pool of seized cars from the State and Federal stockpiles ?
