SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo aircraft maintenance company located at Mathis Field celebrated a milestone Wednesday with a lunch and awards program in its hangar on Hangar Rd. at the airport.
The Vertex Modification and Maintenance Center at the San Angelo Regional Airport was built in 2006 with support from the city. The center is a 12,000 square foot modern facility that added more than 40 jobs to the local community and millions of dollars in government contracts since its construction.
Vertex completes detailed inspections and repairs known as aircraft condition inspections, or ACIs. Vertex strips down the aircraft, make thorough inspection, repairs as needed. The company also modernizes aircraft by adding new systems to the cockpit.

Also at the celebration Wednesday, Vertex honored one of its own with a Federal Aviation Administration award for 50 years of service.
Ted Snyder was awarded the FAA's highest award for aircraft maintenance. The ceremony featured a 15 min. video about the history of the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award.
