Report Shows Buckle May Be Leaving the Sunset Mall

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Sunset Mall may be losing another major store after The Buckle submitted a permit to the City of San Angelo asking to remodel the former Kirklands Home store.

According to the City of San Angelo's building inspections and permits report, during the month of Mar. 2022, The Buckle requested a permit for a $200,000 construction project at 4205 Sunset Dr. Currently the permit is pending approval. Once it is approved crews can begin construction.

The Sunset Mall in recent years has lost a number of retailers to other brick and motor locations.

The Sunset Mall still has a number of locally owned retail shops along with major retailers like Dillards and J.C. Penny.

The Buckle, Inc. is an American fashion retailer selling clothing, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children. The company operates 451 stores in 42 states throughout the United States of America, under the names Buckle and The Buckle.
