Tom Green County Commissioners Leverage Another $525K in Federal ARPA Funds for Small Businesses

 

SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County Commissioners approved a discretionary exemption Tuesday which allows for an additional $525,000 in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for small businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

ARPA funds may be used for payroll and covered benefits expenses for public safety, public health, health care, human services, and similar employees, including first responders, to the extent that the employee's time that is dedicated to responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency.  

The ARPA funds in Tom Green County will be administered through PeopleFund.org in increments of $5,000 to $15,000.

ARPA was approved in 2021 and there were more applications for the funding than funds available last year.  

Tom Green County and the City of San Angelo partnered to distribute the ARPA funds in 2021.
