Suddenlink Joins Push to Install Broadband Fiber Optic Service in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — Suddenlink, which is operated by Altice USA (NYSE: ATUS), Wednesday announces plans to build a 100% fiber broadband network to reach homes and businesses it serves in the Abilene, Amarillo, Bryan-College Station, Lubbock, San Angelo, and Tyler areas.

The fiber builds, which are expected to begin in mid-2022, are part of the company’s multi-year initiative to deploy full-fiber services in the Suddenlink footprint. The company expects to invest more than $500 million in Texas over the next four years to bring fiber services to the communities it serves throughout the state.

Suddenlink’s Broadband Network 

Suddenlink currently delivers 1 Gigabit internet service in these six markets to power the connectivity needs of today’s ultra-connected households and businesses.

Suddenlink also delivers full-fiber broadband services to enterprise customers across the state of Texas, powering large businesses, hospitals, K-12 schools, universities, and government buildings with the fastest fiber technology.  

Suddenlink’s Fiber Expansion

The company’s network today includes thousands of miles of fiber in and out of these six markets, and now with this expansion, Suddenlink will be extending fiber even deeper into the network to enable faster broadband service, including multi-gig speeds, with symmetrical download and upload speeds.

Suddenlink estimates that the fiber build will be completed in phases over 12 to 24 months. Throughout the fiber build process, residents will see more trucks and technicians in their areas as fiber is being deployed. The build should not cause any disruption to current Suddenlink services, and the company will communicate with customers when they can begin signing up for fiber services.

Suddenlink in the Texas Community

In addition to the fiber expansion, Suddenlink will open an additional retail store in Abilene, Amarillo, Bryan-College Station, and San Angelo and two additional retail stores each in Lubbock and Tyler, bringing new jobs to the regions as well as more ways to serve its local customers.

Suddenlink is also committed to supporting its local communities through donations to public schools, empowering the next generation of innovators through STEM activities, partnerships with local organizations and providing grants to small businesses.

Additionally, the company participates in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides eligible households with a benefit of up to $30 per month to reduce the cost of broadband service.
