SAN ANGELO, TX — As the Winter Storm loomed over San Angelo Wednesday, grocery stores were filled with panicked shoppers.
No matter if it was H-E-B, Market Street, or Walmart on Feb. 2, stores were filled with people stocking up on everything leaving empty shelves and hour long lines.
From meat to eggs to biscuits, some panic buyers felt the need to stock their refrigerators and freezers with weeks worth of food. This led to empty shelves.
The problem didn’t stop at the panic shoppers though. Another situation at stores were long lines.
This was caused by the amount of people buying products to outlast the storm. In some cases lines stretched halfway down aisles behind registers and customers were forced to wait a hour to check out.
In San Angelo the majority of the storm system has passed but the temperature will remain well below freezing until Saturday afternoon.
