Another Round! Tilted Mug Revamps and Reopens After Lockdown

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Tilted Mug was one of the unfortunate bars that closed down because of the mandatory lockdown at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. After bars were shut down in Jul. 2020 the tilted Mug never reopened.

"At the time only the bars with food were able to stay open," said owner Frank Zarauskas. "We didn't have a kitchen so it left it with no choice but to close the bar."

After a year and a half, Zarauskas and his team have decided to reopen the bar. The crew have made a number of improvements including expanding seating, adding more TVs, put in new flooring, and much more. The most impressive add was the small kitchen placed behind the bar.

"It's not much," said Zarauskas. "but it does have enough where we will be able to make five or six different menu items." The kitchen will have a sandwich station and a frying station.

Tilted Mug was most remembered for it's Karaoke night and Comedy night which will both be returning.

"We don't want to be known as a Karaoke bar or a Comedy club but as something different," said Zaraukas. "Since we are reopening we will be bringing back those things but will also be doing different things." Ideas thrown around during the discussion was their trivia night as well as the addition of country music, DJs, and live bands.

The bar had its soft opening on Nov. 29 and is expected to have a grand opening by the end of the month.

"We are excited to see some old customers and welcome the new ones," said Zarauskas. "We want people to come in, have a good time, and then go tell all of your friends and family."

The Tilted Mug is open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. and is located at 3520 Knickerbocker rd. Karaoke nights will be Wed. and Fri. from 9 p.m. until close. Once a month the Tilted Month brings in a comedy act. This month's act, which will be held on Dec. 111, will be famous comedian from Netflix and HBO specials, April Macie.
